Laurence Riley almost died killing one god only to discover that he’s descended from another. Before he can come to terms with that revelation, Quentin’s twin brother walks into his life, and there’s no way to know what his motives may be.
With great power comes great danger.
Kane Wilson wants to make a better world a world in which psychics are open about who and what they are without fear of reprisal or hatred. With the power to control others he might be able to pull it off, but there’s going to be collateral damage.
If Quentin and Laurence can’t get to the bottom of Wilson’s plan, Kane will out the existence of psychics not only to San Diego but to the world, and all hell will break loose.
Knight of Flames is the second book in the Inheritance series and contains mature themes and events which may be distressing to some readers. It has a mild heat rating and an HFN ending.
Knight of Flames Inheritance Book 2 eBook Amelia Faulkner
Knight of Flames (Inheritance Book 2) is amazing. It follows Jack of Thorns, which held my interest throughout, as well. Knight, being a sequel, I held to a high standard which it fully met and exceeded. In Jack, we are introduced to the two main characters, Laurence Riley and Quentin D'arcy. Needless to say, things happened. By this second installment, Laurence and Quentin have reached a certain level of comfort between them but Quen's inability to remember times when he loses control makes life difficult. Laurence's addiction still tugs at him. But new people in their live bring new problems, questions and issues, not least of which is Quen's twin, Freddie. Things get deep fast, they get twisted into pretzels, and yet, the underlying connection between Laurence and Quentin grounds them both.Buy this series, if you haven't already. You won't regret it. This story and these characters will make sure you don't regret spending a few hours with them.Knight of Flames (Inheritance Book 2)

Knight of Flames Inheritance Book 2 eBook Amelia Faulkner Reviews
I dove straight into the second book from the first one and it did not disappoint! The book itself was brilliantly written and well paced. Learning more about Quentin and his family was fabulous, as well as watching the interplay between Laurence and Quentin as they settle into being more than friends. Both the romantic aspect and the fantasy one were equalley compelling to me.
I love this series. The first book was wonderful, and the second is even better. I adore all the characters, and the story line. I just can't say enough good things about this book or series. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who loves PRN. And I applaud the author for addressing some very difficult issues with understanding and compassion.
I'm not going to finish this one. I should've stopped before 70%. Stupid sunk cost fallacy...
Reason one is, I'm bored. I was a little bored in the first book, but this one's pace is terrible.
Reason two is, I'm no longer invested in the slow-burn relationship. I've read a masterful slow burn relationship in 2 books (so far) that is wicked good. It's not the slowness. It's the utter stand-still. Hope needs some fuel, you know? Or at least distract me with other events.
Reason three is, my time is precious. I'm going to spend it elsewhere.
If you enjoyed Jack of Thorns, you won't be disappointed with this book. There's everything I loved about Jack of Thorns here - the amazing characterizations, the fantastic world-building, the slow-burn romance and the fast-moving action plot. But we get even more twists and turns and some great new characters. It's a complete story - no cliff hanger - but a very intriguing hook in the epilogue for the next book, which I can't wait to read. Laurence and Quentin are some of the most interesting characters I've ever read and I love them for both their talents and their flaws. Well done!
I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
KoF is a great followup to Jack of Thorns -- and make sure you read Jack before Knight!
The pace picks up really quickly at the midway point, and you'll probably find yourself staying up late to reach the end and see how all the danger and drama plays out. Without spoiling anything, I have to say my favorite parts are where Quentin and Laurence argue over each others' adventures. These characters clearly care for each other and will do *anything* to keep the other from harm!
I love that, despite Quentin's scars, he still tries to always do the right thing even when it's painful or frightening. He has a serious heroic streak underneath that damage. Laurence is great - I love how cunning he is, even if he is, perhaps, outmatched... The development of Quentin and Laurence's relationship here is exciting; there's a lot of unresolved tension and I'm really looking forward to see how it resolves or develops in book 3!
Wow. This was wonderful. I really liked the first book, but this just got better. The connection between Laurence and Quentin is so strong. I love their relationship. A lot of the beginning of the book was establishing them for the reader, and I felt it was great to get to know them together and apart before it all went nuts. The dance between them related to sex was well written. I really enjoyed the character of Freddy, and I hope we get to see more of some of the kids and Sebastian from Kane's home. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next. You just know that more stuff is going to hit the fan with Quentin's dad. Amelia really left me wanting for more, more, more by the end.
A great addition to the Inheritance series!
I was happy to see Quentin and Laurence's relationship grow, as well as their gifts. They fit so well together, and I'm eager to read the rest of the series to see how that relationship evolves further.
This was a really good story, and it was interesting to see the addition of other psychics into the mix. I hope they will continue to be involved in the rest of the series. I also liked the addition of some of Laurence's friends, and hope they will stick around too.
That epilogue though... what does Freddy and Quentin's father have up his sleeve? Hmm... guess I'll have to keep reading to find out.
